Moments

Some things in life, define you. Whether it be how you were raised, the fact that you don’t put sugar in your green tea, or that your favorite color’s red. These little things can turn you, into you. But it’s not those things that really define you. So, what does?

It’s a lovely little thing called; moments.

Moments that pass-by every second, piling-up into hundreds, thousands, and millions! And, eventually into you.

How many moments does it take for us to be alive? I mean, we all know how it starts. It starts all the way back in a mother’s womb. The second you’re created, you’re alive! & whatever you go through from thereon, is considered a moment.

We all heard the phrase: “I need a moment…”.  Why do people say that?

Because some moments are too intense to take-in all at once.  These moments, are either the best or worst ones to have.

Either way, it sinks into you. It attaches through a sense, onto your skin, and dives into your soul to make itself a part of you. A part you’ll never forget.

It’s amazing, really. We comprehend, and not just know. We listen, and not just hear. We speak, and not just say! We feel, and we don’t just pass through a moment blankly.

Emotions are a blessing, as much as they are torture sometimes. And that’s what makes a moment so special.

A second passes through the brain with a timer, while a moment passes through the heart with emotion. That’s the difference, and that’s what makes it count.

It does get a little bit too much, sometimes. But that’s the beauty of it. No matter how much a person tries to convince themselves that they’re heartless, it’s never true. It’s just that their moments weren’t as good as ours; so the heart creates a sort of antibiotic for the emotion that was associated with that moment.

No matter how much the heart blocks it, it gets a foot through the door, and creates another moment. Maybe a better one, and maybe one that’ll make the heart decide to overdose on whatever numbs it. Either way, the moments will still come along, making us who we are, and who we’re eventually gonna be.

The next time you have a moment, try to take it in and not just let it pass. ‘Cause little do we know, every moment could also be a chance for one even greater.
